In my years on this planet, I’ve learnt many things about myself through constant over analysis. It could also be said that I’ve just plain old tried lots of things. Gymnastics, tennis, swimming, rowing, aerial silks, flying trapeze, bungee jumping, scuba diving, cooking, etc etc. That’s not unusual. Most of us try different things through our lives.

One of the things I had lessons in as a child is piano. I had lessons for three years and while my memory of my teacher is a kindly lady in her 50’s or 60’s, she may well have been in her 20’s but aged horribly due to all the stress of listening to my musical abilities, best described as non-existent. I can dance to a beat, tap to a beat but beyond that, I have no musical talent whatsoever.

So when I found Andrew Huang through Peter McKinnon’s youtube, I was very very impressed. This

Qantas has painted one of their newest Boing 787s in an aboriginal design based on a painting by one of the country's most renowned indigenous artists, the late Emily Kngwarreye. Those who know Emily's works might be a bit disappointed. I don't think the design is easily recognisable as being representative of her work. Still, it's great that the national carrier is honouring a great artist in this way.
The latest addition to the Qantas fleet is one of a number of planes to have been painted with aboriginal designs. Here are a few others.
I came across these on Tumblr and I will publish them for however long it takes over a number of weeks. They are animated gifs, so you need to wait for them to load. Places fall into disuse and decay, rather like us really.

Later edit: This is not so interesting to string out over 10 Saturdays, to here is number two as well.

The snowboarding this week has been absolutely awesome.  I am just glowing!!! It might be from the Speedo Only Party last Sunday as well – I will sit down and spend some time writing about it for you guys hopefully tomorrow.

We are expecting a little bit more snow over the weekend then the forecast says that it will be dry early next week.

So Kip has decided that we are going to do a little tour of a bunch of hot springs.

First up in Glenwood Hot Springs (we will be there on Sunday and spending Sunday night at the Hotel Colorado – I think 3 Presidents have stayed there), then we are going to Radium Natural Hot Springs which are these natural hot springs on the Colorado River on Monday during the day, then on Monday night we are going to Hot Sulfur Springs which are Kip’s favourite hot springs.  We are going to spend Monday night at the ski resort of Winter Park, we are skiing there on Tuesday and then driving back

adelaide fringe: heathers the musical - high school editionDear Diary,

My teen-angst bullshit now has a body count.

The movie Heathers has, at various times, been one of those high rotation movies that I've watched a lot, so I was interested to see how the musical version held up... and with actual teenagers no less.

The Creative Academy of Performing Arts has put together a decent production, although the Off-Broadway musical by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy does take more than ...

I am completely up for multi-tasking. I know it’s supposed to be bad for your brain and make you less efficient, but as a creature of the modern world, at least I like to believe that I can do more than one thing at a time. I’m sure I’m fooling myself though.

Still, while sneaking in a coffee before trying Cairo Takeaway, it was a huge pleasure to

Watch the world go by in Enmore, from their outdoors seating Read a bit of the 3rd Elena Ferrante novel that I’m addicted to Drink a delicious coffee, as served up by the friendly guy behind the counter.

Thus, in a similar way, to a place that sells caps and coffee at the same time, I say: all power to you. I hope you’re a booming success.

So, my new phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8 or . It is not so different opeationaly from my old S6, thanks to frequent system updates, or R's S7 for that matter. This feature I really like, which is also on R's phone. I don't wear a watch and I always had to press a button to see the time. I no longer have to.

The phone I bought from the same company for R defaulted to Chinese and there is still bit of Chinese writing to be found on his phone, but nothing that causes a problem. Mine came with the default of German, but I had no need to call German speaking  ...
